Meine Mutter so jung
mit zwei Kindern allein
mein Bruder Ben noch ein Baby
zu ihrer Cousine
die ein Gasthaus führte
mit ihrem Mann
in einer kleinen Stadt

Meine Mutter und ihre Mutter
ihr Vater und ihre Geschwister
sie waren Musiker
damals in Mossul
von ihnen allen lebten nur mehr

Meine Mutter die Sängerin
ihre Tochter die Trommlerin
und Benny, der Kleine

IRAQI SAGA – We came from Mosul

My mother so young
alone with two children
my brother Ben still a baby
came to her cousin
who ran an inn
with her husband
in a small town

My mother and her mother
her father and her siblings
they were musicians
back then in Mosul
out of all of them only
we were

Still alive
My mother the singer
her daughter the drummer
and Benny, the little boy
