SUSANNE AYOUB, author, and ELISABETH STRATKA, Producer of the \u00d61 program H\u00d6RBILDER (Radio Features) discuss the Baghdad Project, which Susanne Ayoub began in 2002 with two trips to Iraq.<\/p>\n

On the difficulties of filmmaking in a dictatorship and how these difficulties made a film into a radio broadcast: The audio feature \u201cBorn in Baghdad\u201d was broadcast by the ORF five days before the American invasion of Iraq.<\/p>\n

The multimedia Baghdad Project continued to develop over the years: essay, story, audiobook, poetry chapbook, theater play. Susanne Ayoub did eventually succeed in making a film: \u201cBaghdad Fragment\u201d premiered in 2007 at the Diagonale.<\/p>\n

In 2016, the novel \u201cThe Jewel Garden\u201d appeared, a love story set in the Iraq of the 1950s and 60s, times of revolution and civil war, the beginnings of anomalous political developments that have shaken Iraq until the present day.<\/p>\n

Susanne Ayoub reads from her novel and presents excerpts from her audiobook and film.<\/p>\n
