In ihrem H\u00f6rspiel \u201eMarie. Ein Fall\u201d erz\u00e4hlt Susanne Ayoub eine wahre Geschichte aus dem Jahr 1905, zitiert aus Originaldokumenten, Gerichtsakten, Gutachten, Zeitungsberichten und Briefen. Die Namen der handelnden Figuren sind, ebenso wie Maries Brief, der das H\u00f6rspiel umrahmt und durchzieht, fiktiv. Marie Lerch, die 21-j\u00e4hrige, wohlerzogene Tochter eines B\u00fcrgermeisters, hat ein heimliches Verh\u00e4ltnis mit dem windigen Kaufmannsgehilfen Wolf Hauser. Ihre Eltern jedoch dr\u00e4ngen sie zur Verlobung mit dem angesehenen, wenn auch farblosen Referendar Neumann. Die abschreckende Ehe ihrer Eltern vor Augen, versucht Marie, einen Ausweg aus ihrem Dilemma zu finden. Sie vergiftet Neumann mit Zyankali und schie\u00dft ihm, sicher ist sicher, mit einem entwendeten Revolver in den Mund. \u201eSie verf\u00fcgt \u00fcber eine weit \u00fcber den Durchschnitt hinausgehende Bildung\u201d, attestiert ihr der Anstaltsarzt in seinem Gutachten. Allerdings gebe die Angeklagte \u201eMangel an Scham- und Ehrgef\u00fchl zu erkennen und vertritt laxe Auffassungen \u00fcber das Wesen der Gesetze\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Dem Gericht tischt Marie Lerch L\u00fcgengeschichten auf, verstrickt sich in Widerspr\u00fcche. Schlie\u00dflich wird sie zum Tod <\/span><\/span>durch die Guillotine verurteilt. Zu ihrer Hinrichtung str\u00f6men \u00fcber tausend Zuschauer herbei.

In her audio drama \u201cMarie. A Case,\u201d Susanne Ayoub tells a true story from the year 1905, quoting from original documents, court records, testimony, press reports, and letters. The character\u2019s names, like the letter from Marie that frames and runs through this audio drama, are fictional. Marie Lerch, the well brought-up twenty-one-year-old daughter of a mayor, has a secret relationship with the dubious merchant\u2019s assistant Wolf Hauser. But her parents urge her to get engaged to the respected but lackluster law clerk Neumann. Seeing her parents\u2019 marriage as a bad example, Marie tries to find a way out of her dilemma. She poisons Neumann with cyanide and\u2014just to be doubly certain\u2014shoots him in the mouth with a stolen revolver. In his expert report, the resident physician attests that \u201cshe possesses a far greater than average education.\u201d However, the accused seems to \u201clack a sense of shame and honor, and embodies loose ideas about the nature of the law.\u201d In court, Marie Lerch serves up fabricated stories and gets tangled up in contradictions. She is ultimately sentenced to death by guillotine. Over a thousand spectators flock to her execution.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
